SMTP is Simple Mail Transfer Protocol . Define in RFC 2821 and RFC 821

Very different with POP3, SMTP is send email protocol. Default port listening in 25.

Begin session, SMTP client establish TCP connection to server. Server reply message information

EHLO <domain of client> ( or HELO)

Used to identify the SMTP client to the SMTP server. If server supported, it reply "250….."

EHLO gmail.com

MAIL FROM: <sender-address>

Address sender

MAIL FROM: user1@gmail.com

RCPT TO: <receiver-address>

Address receiver

If there are many receiver. Client has to send many time

RCPT TO: user2@yahoo.com

DATA

Content of email.

Symbol ending content is "<CRLF>.<CRLF>"

RSET

Reject mail sending

QUIT

Close session. Server will send mail when client close session.
