The simple meaning is network communication protocol standards for computer communicate in the internet.
It was the common protocol for large networks to support multiple network protocol suites. However, while OSI developed its networking standards, TCP/IP came into widespread use on multivendor networks for internetworking. TCP/IP is the implement from ISO.
The OSI model was defined in raw form in Washington DC in the 1978 by Hubert Zimmerman of France. And standard form was published in 1984.
The ISO model has 7 layer: Application, Presentation, Session, Transport, Network, Data link, Physical
